thoroughbred cars of the UK

Outside the Chequered Flag showroom at
Hammersmith, London, the gathering of Britain's fast cars was growing.
It was becoming a 'who's who' of fast car marques. Bugatti, Alfa Romeo,
Ferrari, AC, Bentley and Jaguar, the list grew by the minute. We had
come in a Mk2 Jag and felt a bit 'common'. This was no celebration but
the only real protest against the Labour Party's policy of stopping
motorists having any fun at all. Tom Frazer had just introduced the 70
mile limit!
Finally we moved off towards the short
section of motorway that was the M1. As soon as the road was reached,
down went the loud pedal and off we went at 100 mph to the very end. If
the police were around, they did not bother us and sitting in the cafe
after our protest, we all began to ponder why we should ever bother
owning such vehicles again.
Of course we did continue to buy them,
and Britain still produces the best thoroughbred car in the World, the
Aston Martin.
