Alfa Romeo

For a few short years, Alfa Romeo swept to victory in the
Grand Prix and sports car events. Alfa was the car that launched Enzo
Ferrari's Scuderia Ferrari and it was the car that immortalised Tazio
Nuvolari. The real Alfa classics were based on their 6 cylinder and 8
cylinder engines (6C and 8C). the
8C 2900 B Lungo Touring Berlinetta was the fastest
production car in the world and certainly one of the most desirable.
For a short time I was able to enjoy
an 8C 2300 Monza. It gave me some of the best driving I ever experienced
in my life. I had found the car languishing in the back of an old garage
in Bangor, North Wales and finally managed to purchase it for £2000,
(which I did not really have). Sadly I was forced to sell it to cover
everyday living costs but already, by then, I was able to sell it for
double the price!
Following the Second World War Alpha
fell into a long period of mediocrity until in very recent times, new
exciting designs have yet again placed the marque in the forefront of
top cars.
